What does the Instagram integration do?

The one-click Instagram integration allows you to make and schedule posts, comments, comment responses, and replies to direct messages to your Instagram accounts. It also allows you to collect analytics data from Instagram and track leads coming from posts and ads you run on Instagram. You can specify which of your users have which level of access to which Instagram accounts, and whether or not their posts require approvals.

Please note that the Instagram API currently only allows direct posting to Instagram for Business accounts, therefore to post directly from Social Heroto a personal Instagram account, you'll need to change it to an Instagram for Business account (this is free and can be done in under one minute, see how at If you don't want to change your personal account to a business account, you can still schedule posts to your personal account via Social Hero, in which case the fully formatted post will be sent to your email at your designated posting time for you to copy and paste into Instagram.

How do I setup the Instagram integration?

In Social Hero, go to Profiles > Instagram and click Add. You'll be asked to verify your Instagram credentials once in order to connect our third-party posting API to your account, then you'll be asked to select all of the accounts that you want to manage with Social Hero. And that's it! You can then assign access to account to whichever users you please.

Instagram occasionally disconnects API connections if they are not used for a period of time. In this case, you'll be notified in the Profiles section and asked to repeat the one-click connection. Instagram also occasionally rejects some posts sent by API if they violate any of Instagram's Terms of Use, include an attachment that exceeds the size limit for Instagram posts, or are sent at times of high traffic and Internet latency. In this case, you'll be immediately notified on your dashboard and email of the failed post and the reason it was rejected, with suggestions on how to fix the post or when to retry.
